Mr. King’s Testimony
"I enrolled my two oldest boys into martial arts when they were 5 and 6 years old. I was a proud dad sitting on the side watching every class, taking them to all the events and helping them pass the belt tests.
One day, the instructor at the time, Mr. Johnson, asked me to help him out on the mat during class, and of course I said yes. So, I helped by holding targets and boards for kids to kick. I loved it and I think Mr. Johnson could tell because it was shortly after that he invited me to take classes and train with him. That started my Martial Arts Journey. Shortly after, I was asked to be a part of the team and assist as a part time helper. I was running my old tile company at the time called “Custom King Tile”, plus the lead soccer coach, plus a husband, so naturally I said “Yes, Definitely!”
Years later, Mr. Johnson offered me the position as Chief Instructor as he pursued another career. I took the Chief Instructor position which led me to become a 2-time District Champion, 3rd Degree Black Belt, and ultimately creating a Ministry through Martial Arts.
We launched STEM Martial Arts, and our focus was private schools and helping with after care enrichment programs. But life took a turn when COVID showed up at practically the same time we launched. We had to take a pause and examine how we could still focus on reaching kids with our program. So, we decided to start a Mobile Martial Arts by reaching out to parents that wanted STEM Martial Arts to come to their home. It took off quickly and allowed me to develop the program closer to the one we have today.
Today however, we do not have a Martial Arts Program, we have a Martial Arts Ministry. God has been working on me for the last three years and guiding me to reach this revelation. My life’s purpose is to teach kids about Him and use my gifts for His Glory. When I realized my “program” wasn’t giving me purpose, that teaching marital arts was starting to feel dry and unmotivating, God showed me a new way, a way where I can be confident that I am making a difference in the world. My “program” became my passion. This Martial Arts Ministry is a platform for God to talk to all of us and gives a unique place to let kids learn about the Bible with their parents and caretakers."
