We’re excited to kick off 2026 by featuring one of our most determined students in this month’s Student Spotlight at STEM Martial Arts Lakewood Ranch — Anderson, age 8.
Anderson is not only a longtime student, but also one of the youngest members of our Leadership Team, proving that age doesn’t define leadership — character does.
Martial Arts Journey at STEM Martial Arts Lakewood Ranch
Anderson has been training at STEM Martial Arts Lakewood Ranch for nearly three years, growing steadily in confidence, skill, and discipline. During her time in our children’s martial arts program, she has shown remarkable perseverance and focus — traits that helped her earn a spot in our Leadership program.
Becoming part of Leadership is a major milestone for our students. It reflects consistent effort, respect, and a willingness to lead by example — all qualities Anderson displays daily on the mat.
Her favorite technique?
👉 The Tornado Kick — a powerful, dynamic kick that perfectly matches her energy and determination.
Known as “The Terminator” 💥
Around the dojo, Anderson has earned a legendary nickname from Mr. King:
“The Terminator.”
Why? Because once sparring starts, she does not stop.
Despite being one of the youngest leadership students, Anderson brings intensity, resilience, and tenacity well beyond her years. She stays focused, pushes through challenges, and never backs down — all while maintaining respect and control.
This combination of grit and discipline is exactly what we aim to develop in our kids martial arts classes in Lakewood Ranch.

Outside of martial arts training, Anderson’s personality shines just as brightly as her favorite color:

Whether she’s on the field or on the mat, Anderson brings the same determination and positive attitude wherever she goes.
Faith, Character & Life Skills
At STEM Martial Arts Lakewood Ranch, we believe martial arts should develop the whole child — physically, mentally, and spiritually. Anderson embodies that belief.
Her favorite Bible verse is John 13:35 (ESV):
“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Why this verse matters to her:
“It teaches me to treat my friends and family.”
This reflects our mission as a Christian martial arts program in Lakewood Ranch — teaching students how to live out faith, kindness, and integrity both on and off the mat.
From Mat Chat, one lesson that stood out to Anderson was:
“Gratitude is the key to peace.”
That mindset aligns perfectly with one of our core Biblical Life Skills — Gratitude, teaching students to maintain a positive attitude and passion for life.
Goals & Growth: Building Endurance
Anderson isn’t afraid of hard goals. Her next challenge focuses on endurance and mental toughness:

This goal strengthens stamina, discipline, and perseverance — skills that directly translate into confidence at school, at home, and in everyday life.
Training Partners & Community
Anderson especially enjoys sparring and training with Wyatt, pushing each other to grow stronger and sharper in class. Positive training partners play a huge role in a child’s success in martial arts and leadership development.
